packaging

I worked on acquiring materials and my packaging design today. The specific packaging material proved harder to find than originally intended... I went to 9 stores to find it. Here are some sketches and drawings for my concept.

Matt,
I think this ideas goes well with your ideas from studio for the interior spaces and the sculpture idea. Are you going to be incorporating the sculptural, suspended ideas into your interior floor plans? I don't know if I'm just so tired I can't comprehend but can you exlpain a little how the last image (I'm assuming is the outside box) folds around your x frame?

The 'x' IS the packaging. There is no outer box. All of my contents will be included within the wings of the 'x' form. What the last drawing shows is how I've design all the boxes to be constructed. I have a couple mock-up models I'll post soon!

Matt,

Jaclyn raises a good question - how does this package relate to the initial idea? The individuals experience? The suspended object within the cross seems cool enough, but I am not clear on the relationship. maybe you can elaborate as it develops.

Be cautious of an object suspended on a cross. There is about 2000 years of history standing nearby this idea. Best to be sure the idea relates before jumping into this fire.

Keep in mind, the package can go inside another box.

Ted,

The model will be suspened IN the center of the 'X' form. The concept is as seeing through the tapered columns creates an experience, the model reveals itself lookng between the columns of the packaging.
